MIFFLINTOWN, Roxie J. Bell, 78, of Mifflintown (Arch Rock), died at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on February 21, 1934 in Fermanagh Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Walter R., Sr. and Kathaleen E. (Britcher) Worrall. On September 1, 1951 she married her late husband, Floyd H. “Toad” Bell, with whom she shared more than 51 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on February 18, 2003.
Surviving are her children, Melvin L. Bell, Pamela J. Rosenberry, Herb Bell and his companion Sally Bailor, all of Mifflintown; a brother, Walter R. Worrall, Jr. Mifflintown. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Kelly Sunderland and her husband Chad, of Milroy, Josh Rosenberry, of Mifflintown and two great-grandchildren, Noah Sunderland and Tanner Sunderland.
One son in law, Terry L. Rosenberry, five sisters, Esther Dunn, Betty Gray, Eleanor Weiand, Donna Andrus and Faye DeArmitt as well as four brothers, Clark M. Worrall, James Eugene Worrall, Floyd A. “Red” Worrall and Stanley T. “Pete” Worrall, preceded him in death.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church, Arch Rock where she had served on the administrative council and was a former trustee.
As a teenager, she worked as a waitress at Chapple’s Restaurant, later she worked at Shirk’s Grocery and then as a cook, at Brookline Manor, all of Mifflintown.
Roxie enjoyed attending all of her church’s activities; however her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2012, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Gerald Miller. Interment will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Friday, November 30, 2012, at the funeral home.
