MIFFLINTOWN, Kenneth R. “Ken” Baker, 70, of Mifflintown and formerly of Pueblo, Colorado died at 10:08 a.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on October 16, 1942 in Olney Springs, Crowley County, Colorado, he was a son of the late Charles Fletcher and Edna Mae (Wilson) Baker. On April 10, 1964, he married his surviving wife, Betty Jean (Watkins) Baker, with whom he shared more than 48 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Donald Baker and his wife Tammy, of Prairie Village, Kansas, Pamela Kanagy and her husband Dan, of McAlisterville, a brother Robert Baker, of Thompsontown, and he leaves behind three grandsons, Kyle Baker, Daniel Kanagy and Aaron Kanagy.
Mr. Baker was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He started his career with the Rio Grande Railroad after which he was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad before retiring from the Southern Pacific Railroad, working out of the Pueblo Yard.
“Ken” loved fishing and being a race fan he enjoyed watching NASCAR, along with sprint cars; however his greatest joy came from attending and watching his grandsons sporting events.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St. Mifflintown, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be private.
There will be no viewing; however the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
