MIFFLIN, Charles L. “Charlie” Arentz, Sr., 72, of Mifflin died at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Locust Campground, Lewistown.
Born on August 22, 1941 in Derry Twp., Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Lee R. and Nancy Mae (Hockenberry) Arentz. On March 4, 1961 he married his surviving wife, Sonja M. (Kinsloe) Arentz, with whom he shared more than 53 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles L. “Chuck” Arentz, Jr. and his wife Donna, of Doyles Mills, Brian E. Arentz, of Mifflintown; siblings, David A. Arentz, of Lewistown, Dorothy J. Niman and her husband Scott, of Mifflintown, seven grandchildren and 7 great, grandchildren.
Mr. Arentz was a 1959 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and Carnegie College as an X-ray Technician.
Until his retirement in 2004 after 41 years of service, he was employed by Standard Steel Corp. and was a member of USWA Local 1940, both of Burnham.
Charlie’s passion was fishing, and he enjoyed camping at the Locust Campground with his buddies. He also enjoyed gathering at McDonald’s and at Ted’s Garage with all of his NASCAR friends
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Pastor Casey Hostler officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
Viewing will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014 also from the funeral home.
