Olive M. Hoffman, 83, of McAlisterville, died at 9:25 a.m., on Friday, August 8, 2014 at her home.
Born on June 8, 1931, in Lewistown, Mifflin County she was a daughter of the late J. Bruce, Sr. and Olive (Orwan) Miller. On August 29, 1951 she married her surviving husband, Robert E. Hoffman, with whom she shared nearly 63 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Barbara Hoffman, of McAlisterville, Tom Hoffman and his wife Teresa, of Middleburg, Stanley Hoffman and his wife Tracey, David Hoffman and his wife Darlene, all of Richfield; siblings, J. Bruce Miller, Jr. and his wife Sara, Tom Miller and his wife Roberta, David Miller and his wife Margie, all of New Bloomfield, William Miller and his wife Gloria, of Mifflintown, Martha Miller, of McAlisterville, Susan Arrowsmith, of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Nicole Gesselman and her husband Todd, Bobbi Leister and her husband Harold, Jr., Curtis Hoffman and his wife Kristen, Cheryl Maneval and her husband Jason, Kate Kuhns and her husband Brett, Carly Ehrisman, Anna Greenholt and her husband Lane, Andrea Hoffman and great grandchildren, Abigail Gesselman, Adrianne Gesselman, Ashley Gesselman, Devan Leister, Zane Leister, Haley Hoffman, Chase Hoffman, Jay Maneval, Sophia Maneval, Faith Maneval Jack Greenholt, Elaina Greenholt and Averie Kuhns.
One brother, Charles Miller, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hoffman was a 1949 graduate of Green Park High School, and a 1951 graduate of Polyclinic School of Nursing, as well as an active member of Niemonds Independent Church, Richfield, where she served on church council, as secretary and treasurer and as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also very active in with the Special Olympics, the Mifflin Juniata ARC, where she held several leadership positions, was actively involved with the creation of the JAM House.
Olive was employed as a LPN for the Mengel’s Nursing Home and later the Zendt Home, both of Richfield.
She enjoyed bowling and taking walks, but spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, held a special place in her heart.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014, from the Niemonds Chapel, Lauver Valley Road, Richfield with Rev. J. Arthur Mott and Rev. Steven Osenga officiating. Interment will follow in the Niemonds Church Cemetery, Richfield.
Viewing will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014 with family present from 6 – 8 p.m., at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville. There will be no viewing at the church.
