Daniel F. Clark, Esq., 59, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 3:43 a.m. after a courageous fight with lung cancer. The former State Representative and long time resident of Juniata County, was born on December 11, 1954, the son of Kathryn G. Clark, of Thompsontown and the late Donald L. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie and his children Benjamin, Anna, and Liz Clark. He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas G. & Pam Clark, brother David L. Clark, nieces Kathryn, Meghan, and Frida, nephew Jacob, Step-Daughter Valerie Eaton, Step-Daughter Jessica & Matthew Guyer, and Step-Grandchildren Tino Pariso & Alanna Guyer. He was preceded in death by his father Donald.
Dan was a 1972 graduate of East Juniata High School, 1976 graduate of Lycoming College, and 1979 graduate of Duquesne University School of Law. He was well known for his tireless dedication as a public servant. He served as the Juniata County District Attorney from 1984-1988 and as State Representative for the 82nd Legislative District from 1989-2002. He also established a successful law practice in 1984. As Chairman of the House Judiciary Sub-Committee on Courts, Dan was appointed as one of the lead prosecutors in the case to impeach Supreme Court Justice Rolf Larsen. His involvement was described as a “footnote to history”. In 2005 he began working for Pugliese Associates and in 2011 he returned to the legislature to serve as Chief Counsel for the House Republican Appropriations Committee.
In his leisure time, Dan enjoyed traveling, was an avid golfer, and a dedicated Penn State fan. He coached the Mifflintown Little League baseball team from 2000-2003. Above all, his children were his pride and joy. Although he shared much knowledge with them over the years, the advice he gave most often was “Hard work pays off!”
