Obituary for Harry L. Arentz

MIFFLIN, Rev. Harry L. Arentz, 71, of Mifflin went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:45 p.m., on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on June 4, 1943 in Rosedale, MD, he was a son of the late Harry L. and Maxine (Bryner) Arentz-Shirk. On May 11, 1962, he married his surviving wife, Betty L. (Woodward) Arentz, with whom he spent more than 52 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Richard M. “Rick” Arentz, of Mifflin, Timothy S. Arentz and his fiancé Kim Clark, of Mifflintown, a sister, Sandy Rudy and her husband Tom, of Mifflintown and he leaves behind three grandsons, Kyle Levan Arentz, Zachary Thomas Arentz and Cade Clark.
A sister, Carol Ann Arentz preceded him in death.
Mr. Arentz was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and a member of the Stony Run Mission Church, Evendale. Also he served as a supervisor for 18 years of Tuscarora Township and he was a member of the NRA.
Having worked construction all of his life, he retired in 2008 as a heavy equipment operator with the I.U.O.E. Local 542 and this was the proudest work he did in his life.
Harry had a passion for deep sea fishing at Lewes, Del., and he loved riding his Harley. His greatest joy came from his family with the love they held for one another.
A Funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Stoney Run Mission Church, Evendale with the Rev. Nicholas Smith and Pastor David Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Viewing will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Arentz’ memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 123 Sparks St., State College, PA 16801 or to the charity of one’s choice.
