Obituary for Annabel B. Sassaman

MIFFLINTOWN, Annabel B. Sassaman, 88, of Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown and formerly of McAlisterville died at 12:30 p.m., on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Brookline.
Born January 12, 1926, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Bassler) Burns. Her late husband of more than 53 years, Charles F. “Charlie Chip” Sassaman, whom she married on June 11, 1955, preceded her in death on September 6, 2008.
Surviving are, three children, Dianne Cunningham and her husband Greg, of Mifflintown, Dennis Sassaman, and Coleen Sassaman, both of McAlisterville, two sisters, Betty Page of Perry Village, New Bloomfield, Laura Alice Horning, of Mifflintown and two granddaughters, Bethany Goshorn and her husband Sam and Brittany Matthews and her husband William and a great grandson Graham Matthews.
Two half-brothers, Leroy Fogleman, Henry Fogleman and a half-sister, Martha Detra, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sassaman was a 1944 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville and a member of the First Baptist Church, Mifflintown, where taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the WCTU.
She was a home maker who in earlier life, was employed as a secretary for Roush’s Garage, Oakland Mills.
Annabel enjoyed playing the accordion, collecting dolls, having and going to yard sales, attending gospel music concerts.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Ronald Shupe and Pastor Phil Persing officiating. Interment will be in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home.
