McALISTERVILLE, Ralph A. Hepner, 71, of McAlisterville, died at 3:41 p.m., Sunday, November 16, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on May 15, 1943, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John S. and Grace E. (Varner) Hepner. On June 8, 1968, he married his surviving wife Rose M. (Rumfola) Hepner, with whom he shared more than 46 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children: John Hepner and his wife Tanya, A. Joseph and his wife Wendy, Shea Hepner and his companion Tina Fogleman, Erin Cook and her husband Josh; a sister, Ann Page, all of McAlisterville and he leaves behind nine grandchildren, Tyler Hepner, Hunter Hepner, Kyle Hepner, Alleighcia Hepner, Riley Hepner, Lauren Hepner, Lindsay Hepner, Hayden Cook and Lucas Hepner.
One brother, Gerald Hepner, preceded him in death.
Mr. Hepner was a 1961 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown, the NRA and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 925, Millerstown.
In earlier life Ralph owned and operated Ralph A. Hepner Lumber, McAlisterville. He later was employed by Fayette Township for 25 years, 19 of which he served as Township Supervisor and Roadmaster, until his retirement in 2010.
Ralph loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his camp “The Varnerosa”. He also enjoyed reading, woodcarving and driving his Gator, but he always looked forward to picnics with his family each weekend.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014, from the St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown with the Rev. William Weary officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown.
Viewing will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the family present from 6 - 8 p.m and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service, Thursday, at the church.
