POTTSVILLE, Rodney S. Deppen, 63, of Manor Care, Pottsville and formerly of Mifflintown past away at 3:25 a.m., on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Manor Care.
Born on March 31, 1951 in Dauphin, Dauphin County he was a son of the late Millard C. “Tex” and Beverly Jane (Shellenhamer) Deppen.
Surviving are his wife, Rebecca (Charles) Deppen, of Milroy, children, Justin Deppen, of Port Royal, Shane Deppen and his wife Tanya, of Bethel, CT, Colton Deppen and his wife Allison, of Port Royal, siblings, Brad Deppen and his wife Esther, Phillip Deppen and his wife Karen, Cathy Deppen, Stacey Deppen, Colin Deppen, Penny Deppen and he leaves behind 2 granddaughters.
His step mother Mamie Scarborough preceded him in death.
Mr. Deppen was a 1971 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, who was a proud U.S. Army veteran. He also had a passion for restoring classic cars and farm tractors.
Rodney’s career with the railroad began with the Pa. Railroad and later he worked for Conrail before retiring in 2010 with 36 years of service from Norfolk Southern Rail Road.
Services will be private and Interment will be in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
