RICHFIELD, Larry D. Hatten, 79, of Kellerville, entered into rest on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Pinnacle Health Community Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born on September 30, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Dewey and Hazel (Daugherty) Hatten.
On October 23, 1976, he married Edith Mae (Keller) Radcliffe and also gained a daughter, Kelly Radcliffe. In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by two sons, Curtis, of Lawrence, Mich. and Alan, of Hartford, Mich., four grandchildren and six great grandchildren, all of Michigan, several nephews and a niece.
He is the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law Earl Raymond Hatten and his wife, Rebecca and Donald B. Hatten and wife Bette.
Larry was a 1953 graduate of Fayette High School, McAlisterville; the Gemological Institute of America, Trenton Jewelry School, Memphis, TN and the Gem City College, Qunicy, IL.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 11th Airborne from 1953 – 1956.
In earlier years, he worked for Continental Can and sold industrial supplies, and later was a jeweler, by trade and operated his own business, Lar Mae Jewelers, after retiring he continued to serve as a bench Jeweler to several local stores.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from the Faith Lutheran Church, 161 Dresslers Ridge Road, Millerstown with Rev. Timothy Bingman and Rev. James A. Neimond, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
Viewing will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville and at 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
