Nancy D. Ferster, 59, of Richfield, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on July 15, 1955 in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of Ethel (Sheriff) Dillman, of Lewistown and the late Gilbert “Skip” Mayhue. On June 25, 1983, she married Dennis E. Ferster, with whom she shared more than 31 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter, Amanda M. Ferster, of Richfield, sister, Tammy Cherry and her husband Charles, of Lewistown, and two granddaughters, Allete and Aubrey.
Her step father, Marvin “Lucky” Dillman, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ferster was a 1973 graduate of Penn Highlands High School, Lewistown and attended PBTS Bible College, Johnson City, NY and Geneva College, Beaver Falls. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, Mifflintown, where she served as a soloist, had been a Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Hospitality Committee.
In earlier life, until her daughter went to school, Nancy was a homemaker. For the last 14 years she was employed as an instructional aide for special needs children, by the Midd-West School District, Middleburg.
Nancy loved Superman Comics, was an accomplished singer and enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughter and granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 11:00 am from the First Baptist Church, Mifflintown with the Pastors Ron Shupe, Phil Persing and Wally Ostrander officiating. Interment will be in the St. John’s United Methodist Cemetery, Cocolamus.
A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday at the church.
