Clarence W. “Mac” McLaughlin, 81, of Mifflintown, passed away on at 8:46 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born on September 15, 1933 in Walker Twp., Juniata County, he was a son of the late Clarence E. and Helen K. (Keiter) McLaughlin. On June 28, 1959 he married his surviving wife Corinne M. (Hockenberry) McLaughlin, with whom he shared nearly 56 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Debra K. Henry and her husband Stephen, of Honey Grove, Scott A. McLaughlin and his fiancé Bunny Heimbach, of Mifflintown, siblings, Ruth Winey and her husband Larry, Samuel McLaughlin and his wife Joy, all of Mifflintown, five grandchildren, Michael S. Henry, Bethany K. Adhikari, Alisha Brown, Lauren McLaughlin, Spencer McLaughlin, and three great grandchildren, Griffin Henry, Isabella Henry and Aria Brown.
He was a 1951 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and attended the Way, Truth, Life Christian Church, Lewistown. He was also a member of the Milford Grange, the Capital City Polka Club, the Tuscarora Softball Assoc. Hall of Fame, the Juniata County Industry Development Authority, the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863, and the American Legion Post 298, both of Mifflintown. For 18 years he served on the Juniata County School Board and for 17 years, he served as a director of the Mifflin-Juniata Career Technology Center.
Mr. McLaughlin proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
For 50 years, Mac owned and operated Mac’s Clothing, Mifflintown.
“Mac” enjoyed tennis, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. His main passion was helping to propagate the goals the Juniata County Historical Society.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Dan Winey officiating, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will provide full military burial honors. Entombment will follow in the Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the funeral home, after which the casket will be closed. There will be no viewing on Tuesday prior to the funeral service.
