Edison W. Byers, 91, of Blairs Mills, died at 9:43 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born November 18, 1923 in Wayne Twp., Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Elmer S. and Lula M. (Young) Byers. On October 15, 1952, he married Phyllis L. (Reeder) Byers with whom he shared more than 58 years of marriage, until she preceded him in death on March 9, 2011.
He is survived by three children, Bonnie L. Warner, Donald L. Byers, and Brenda L. Byers, all of Blairs Mills; grandchildren, Ashley Warner, Brian Warner, Wesley Warner, Melissa Warner, Lacey Warner, and two great grandchildren, Skyler Warner and Adrianna Wilson.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jay Byers, Emory Byers, Denny Byers and 3 sisters, Vera Knepp, Dorothy Byers and Hazel Apple.
Mr. Byers was employed by the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg and later, during his retirement, he worked on a dairy farm.
Edison loved to carve wood and enjoyed taxidermy and gardening.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Douglas Lichty officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Blairs Mills.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
