Connie Sue Peer, 67, of Mifflintown went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on February 21, 1948 in Wellsboro, she is the daughter of Gertie (Robinson) Peer, of Wellsboro and the late Max Peer.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a cousin, Wayne Peer and his wife Ann, of Jersey Shore, her best friend and longtime co-worker, Mary Lou Wenger, of Mifflintown, also, the Greg Kimball family from New Hampshire and the Timothy Wenger family from Texas who have called her Aunt Connie since 1983.
After graduating from Wellsboro High School, she graduated from the Practical Bible Training School (now Davis College) in Johnson City, NY. She served as a full-time worker in Child Evangelism Fellowship for several years in Wyoming and Sullivan Counties and then as an Assistant Director in Juniata, Mifflin and Perry Counties from 1974 until 2006. She then worked for several years for the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church. Later she was a caregiver for Angels on Call until her illness prevented her from working.
Connie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mifflintown where she served on the Outreach Committee in charge of the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box and the 21st Century Samaritan ministries. She was also a member of the Juniata County Christian Release Time Committee, helping with the Release Time Program in the elementary schools and co-teaching one of the classes. Years ago she was an avid collector of pigs and affectionately received the name “Collects Pigs” at Day Camp.
Connie loved serving her Savior, camping at Buttonwood Campground and eating chocolate cake with peanut butter icing
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015 from the First Baptist Church, 23964 Rte. 35 North, Mifflintown with Pastor Ron Shupe and Pastor Phil Persing officiating and an additional memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from the Charleston Baptist Church, 423 Dartt Settlement Road, Wellsboro with the Pastor Brad Prouty officiating. Interment will be in the Shumway Hill Cemetery, Wellsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Connie’s memory may be made to the Juniata County Christian Education Release Time (CERT) P.O. Box 254, McAlisterville, PA 17049 or to her church the First Baptist Church of Mifflintown, 23964 Rte. 35 North Mifflintown, PA 17059.
