Obituary for Betty G. Gingrich

Betty G. Gingrich, 89, formerly of Mifflintown, passed away at 5 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Homeland Center, Harrisburg.
Born on October 25, 1925, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County she was a daughter of the late William F. and Etta (Ehrenzellers) Graham. On March 28, 1948 she married her late husband, Dale G. Gingrich, with whom she was blessed to share more than 58 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on October 9, 2006.
Surviving are her daughters, Patricia G. Swartz and her husband Paul, of Hummelstown, Susan G. Martin and her husband Dr. William, of Lower Burrell, Kathryn G. Frank and her husband Dale, of Akaroa, New Zealand, Deborah Gingrich, of Vero Beach, FL, nine grandchildren, Nathanael Swartz, Zachary Swartz, Aaron Swartz, Seth Martin, John Tusing, Jesse Tusing, Phillip Hood, Courtney Hood, William Hoffman and two great-grandchildren, Eliott Swartz and Louisa Swartz.
One daughter, Carol F. Whitaker and two sisters, Irene Konick and Liz Dunn preceded her in death.
Her memberships included the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown, where she sang in the church choir and was the treasurer of her Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Walker Grange No. 786, Juniata County Business and Professional Women’s Club, the Juniata County Republican Committee and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post No. 5863.
Mrs. Gingrich was elected and served for two terms as District Magistrate in Juniata County for the state of PA.
Being a farmer’s wife, her life revolved around her family and hard work. Her special attribute was every person she met was a friend that she hadn’t met yet.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown.
