Obituary for James J. Coder

James J. Coder, 64, of Mifflintown, died at 9:06 a.m. on July 12, 2015, at his home.
Born on May 10, 1951, in the Bronx, New York City, he was the son of the late James R. and Mary L. (O’Connell) Coder. His wife Sara J. (Smith) Coder with whom he was blessed to share 33 years of marriage survives.
In addition to his wife, his is survived by his children, Rebecca Coder and her companion Joseph D’Amelia, of Wappinger Falls, NY, Christy Marks and her husband William, of Somers, NY; siblings, Kathleen R. Pacella and her husband Michael, of Somers, NY, Rosemary J. Rella and her husband Alfred, Mary C. Casey and her husband Brian, all of Mifflintown; a grandson, William James Marks and several generations of nieces and nephews.
He was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Saint Michael High School, Bronx, NY and a lifetime member of the Juniata County Sportsman’s Club.
Until his retirement in 2011, he was employed as a carpenter for Regional Scaffolding and Hoisting Co., Bronx, NY.
James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, Mifflintown with the Reverend Father William Weary officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Stephens Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown where a scripture service will be held.
