Obituary for Maxine E. Lawson

Maxine E. Lawson, 82, of Reeds Gap passed away at 4:12 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on October 20, 1932 in Lack Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Flora (Whitesel) Campbell. On March 15, 1952, she married her surviving husband, John B. Lawson, with whom she was blessed to share more than 63 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, John C. Lawson and his wife Robin, of Reeds Gap, Amy E. Lawson, of McConnellsburg, and a sister, Gladys Harlan of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Leota Briggs.
Mrs. Lawson was a 1949 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown an avid reader and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford.
In earlier life she was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Later she owned and operated her own farm and served as the tax collector for Tuscarora Township. Through it all she always enjoyed being a home maker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service at the church.
