Obituary for Evelyn D. "Sis" Stetler

Evelyn D. “Sis” Stetler, 84, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin and formerly of Mifflintown, passed away at 12:47 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at the village.
Born on March 26, 1931, in Fayette Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Blair C. and Florence I. (Strawser) Dysinger. On June 17, 1951 she married her late husband Richard A. Stetler, Sr. with whom she was blessed to spend nearly 28 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on April 16, 1979.
Surviving are her children, Debra Zook and her husband John, of Smyrna, Del., Richard A. Stetler, Jr., of Mifflintown, a brother, Ray “Bud” Dysinger, of Thompsontown, a sister, Carol Prye and her husband Donald “Saint”, of Mexico; three grandchildren, Abbie O’Grady, Jonathan Zook, Rachel Zuber, and she leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Meghan, Hannah, Aidan, Ava and Doran.
One sister, Janet Dysinger, and one brother, Donald Dysinger preceded her in death.
She was a 1949 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and she retired as a clerk from Beward’s Pharmacy, all of Mifflintown.
“Sis” loved crocheting, knitting, weaving rugs, playing pinochle and bowling. With her gift of cooking she will long be remembered as an excellent cook who loved cats.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 24, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. William Esborn officiating. Interment will be in the St. Stephens Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek.
