Obituary for Virginia "Kay" Cable Messimer (Nipple)

Virginia "Kay" Cable Messimer (Nipple)
Virginia “Kay” (Nipple) Cable Messimer, 76, of Mifflintown, died November 21, 2015 at 9:21 pm, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown, PA.
Born on June 23, 1939, in Thompsontown., Juniata County, PA., she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Tom” C. Nipple (former Chief of Police of Thompsontown, and Sheriff of Juniata County), and Virginia “Nora” Cox, the granddaughter of the late Dory S. Cox and Anna M. Stutts, and Henry (Harry) B. Nipple and Mary E. Kauffman, and the great granddaughter of the late William H. Nipple and Margaret N. Dunn, George Kauffman and Susanna E. Partner, William D. Cox and Sarah C. Nipple, and Abner G. Stutts and Leah N. Kepner.
After graduating from East Juniata High School in 1957, Kay joined the Air Force where she served as an Airman in the 3565th Navigator Training Wing at James Connally Air Force Base north of Waco, Texas. Soon thereafter she met and married Quinton T. Cable, of NC, who was also serving in the Air Force.
Surviving are her children: Kimbra J. Cable Moore (Ricky) of Waynesville, NC, Lynn M. Cable Glaze (Mark) of Santa Fe, NM, Joy N. Cable Schofield (Will) of Gainsville, GA, and Quinton T. Cable, Jr. (Julie), of Colbert, GA. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Michele Cagle, Cindy Cagle Putnam, Sarah C. Schofield, David C. Schofield, Hannah C. Schofield, as well as, two great grandchildren, Paul Moore and Mariah Putnam. She was preceded in death by her latest husband, Vernon L. Messimer, of Thompsontown, PA., and one granddaughter, Melissa Cagle.
Kay loved history and traveling, and after her husband, Quinton T. Cable, received orders to report for a second term at RAF (Royal Air Force) Molesworth / RAF Alconbury in England, she and her family traveled abroad to several European countries and experienced various different cultures. Her children remember attending school in WWII buildings, playing on bomb shelters during recess, and living in military Quonset huts. Additionally, two of her children were born at RAF Lakenheath, England, during her husband’s deployment. Kay enjoyed the art of brass rubbing in the English cathedrals, and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., at 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, PA 17059, with Rev. Michael Sigler officiating. Interment will follow in the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Thompsontown, PA, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
The family kindly request that any memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Messimer’s memory to Berry’s Personal Care Center, Inc., 68 Lexi St., Mifflintown, PA 17059, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090.
