Leatrice V. “Leaty” Benner, 86, of McAlisterville died on Sunday, January 3, 2016.
Born on September 27, 1929, in Fayette Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton and Olive (Smith) Rusho. On June 21, 1947, she married her late husband Maynard L. “Jake” Benner, with whom she was blessed to share more than 62 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on June 27, 2009.
Surviving are her children, Jack Benner and his wife Bonnie, of Mechanicsburg, Debbie Smith and her husband Tim, of Mifflintown, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by a sister, Irene Dressler and two brothers, Merrill Rusho and Abe Rusho.
Mrs. Benner was a 1947 graduate of Fayette High School and a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville.
“Leaty” had worked at one time in the local shirt factory of McAlisterville, but she had spent most of her life as a home maker.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, McAlisterville.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
