Ruth E. Vawn, 89, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown and formerly of East Waterford died at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Brookline.
Born on March 31, 1926, in Turbett Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Edith (Arentz) Ritzman. Her late husband Samuel F. Vawn preceded her in death in 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Charles J. Vawn and his wife Alva, of Port Royal, Glenn F. Vawn and his wife Donna, of East Waterford, a brother, Ralph Ritzman, of Port Royal and three grandchildren.
A grandson, Travis Vawn preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vawn was a 1944 graduate of Juniata Joint High School and a member of the E.C.O. Port Royal Presbyterian Church. She also retired as a school bus driver.
Ruth loved to garden and tend to her flowers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, January 25, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Crystal M. Lyde officiating. Interment will follow in the McCulluch Mills Cemetery, McCulluch Mills.
Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
