Obituary for Palmer E. Haas

Palmer E. Haas, 94, of McAlisterville died at 6:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Richfield Senior Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on April 25, 1921, in West Perry Township, Snyder County, he is the son of the late Banks W. and Mary (Gearhart) Haas. On July 20, 1943 he married his surviving wife, Thelma L. (Shirk) Haas with whom he was blessed to share more than 72 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Mary Ehrenzeller and her husband Dwight, Marcus Haas and his wife Stephanie, a daughter in law, Ruth Ann Haas, all of McAlisterville, 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, Lester E. Haas and 2 sisters, Ida Womer and Faye Shirk preceded him in death.
In earlier life he worked for Roush Leister Ford, McAlisterville, after which he retired as an auto mechanic for Regester Chevrolet, Inc. Thompsontown.
He attended Brown’s United Methodist Church, McAlisterville, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher.
Palmer was an avid NASCAR fan, who enjoyed working on race cars. He loved listening to the radio, watching TV and tinkering in his work shop, however; his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Jodi L. Strawser and Rev. Candace Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
Viewing will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
