Obituary for Frances Darlene Burns

Frances “Darlene” Burns, 58, of Mifflintown entered into eternal sleep at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital surrounded by the ones she loved and who loved her.
Born on January 4, 1958, in Pensacola, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth and Chester Ward, and late Glen Lawson.
Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Joseph Burns, 5 children: Laura Downs (Eric Downs) of Dayton, TX, Rita Sullivan ( Palmer Walter) of Thompsontown, Amanda Sullivan (Shane Yoder) of Lewistown, Stanley Sullivan (Nancy Thomas) of Neelyton, Alicia West, of DE, and she leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Kaille Downs, Bret and Hanna Lewis, Madalyn and Gavyn Yoder, Aubrey Thomas-Sullivan and Isabelle West.
Darlene was a loving wife, mother and a compassionate person, who enjoyed teaching pre-school in her younger years and working with special needs individuals. She enjoyed helping others, even in her later years. Through her gift of compassion, after death she chose to donate her body to science to help in finding a cure for cancer.
A private memorial service will be held at convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
