Obituary for William F. Roe

William F. Roe, 98, of the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown and formerly of Thompsontown died at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Brookline.
Born on December 13, 1917, in the Jacobs House in Mifflintown, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Newton G. and Gladys (Beward) Roe. On September 12, 1939 he married his late wife, Ida K. (Strawser) Roe, with whom he was blessed to share nearly 59 years of marriage until she preceded him in death on April 2, 1998.
Surviving are his children: Lynn G. Roe, of Thompsontown, Gladys Kepner and her husband Ralph, of Port Royal, Kathryn Frymoyer and her husband Darvin, of Thompsontown; siblings, Bernice Shuman, of Mifflintown, Mildred Savercool, of Millerstown, Marlin Mowery and his wife Ethel, of New Bloomfield; grandchildren, Sheri Landis and her husband Jim, Crystal Losch and her husband Pusey, Scott Arnold and his wife Jessica, William J. Roe and his wife Tracy, Fred Arnold and his wife Toni; great grandchildren, Erin Byler and her husband Jared, Evan Landis, Rachel Losch, Jonathan Losch, Nathaniel Losch, Benjamin Losch, Blake Armes, Cassandra Chubb, Ethan Roe, Brady Roe, Destiny Arnold, Jayce Arnold and Cooper Arnold.
A sister, Laura Landis and a brother, George Roe, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church, Thompsontown.
Mr. Roe was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, the Penn Central Railroad and later retired from Conrail in 1979. When not working on the railroad, he drove truck for R. C. Savercool as well as selling and repairing televisions.
Bill enjoyed traveling with his late wife Ida and in his later years; loved taking care of his dogs as well as many other dogs he felt weren’t getting adequate care.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 13, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall Street, McAlisterville with Pastor Ronald Shupe and Pastor Phillip Persing officiating. Interment will follow in the Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday at the funeral home.
