Marilyn J. Schroeder, 78, of Mifflintown, died at 3:30 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on April 25, 1938 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Russell Kinsloe and Wilma E. (Dean) Heaps. On September 18, 1976 she married her late husband, Kenneth M. Schroeder, with whom she was blessed to share more than 39 years of marriage, before he preceded her in death on February 10, 2012.
Surviving are her children; Susan Pentland, of Australia, Kenneth Meece, Peggy Ward, both of Carlinville, Illinois, Renee J. Schroeder, of Mifflintown; siblings Gloria Swailes and her husband, Warren, Roberta Keiser and her husband, Herbert, Russalee Yorks and her husband, Blair, Sr., David Kinsloe and his wife, Linda, all of Mifflintown, Wilma Miller and her husband, Ronald, Dean Kinsloe and his wife, Kris, all of Port Royal, Sonja Arentz of McCoysville, and she leaves behind, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn was attending the New Life Assembly of God Church, Mifflintown and had proudly served her county in the U.S. Women’s Army Corps.
In earlier life, Mrs. Schroeder was employed as a waitress for Milliken’s Restaurant, Mifflintown, later the Blue Top Restaurant, Highland, Indiana and then retired from Red’s Diner, Lewistown.
Her hobbies included bingo, adult coloring books, bowling and going to the casinos.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Albert Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors.
Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m., Tuesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
