Obituary for George H. Naylor Sr.

George H. Naylor, Sr., 85, of McAlisterville died at 10:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.
Born on August 10, 1931 in Granville Twp., Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles “Red” and Pearl (Gearhart) Naylor. On November 3, 1950 he married his surviving wife, Bernice E. (Miller) Naylor with, whom he was blessed to share more than 65 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, George H. Naylor, Jr., Gerald P. Naylor and his wife Paula, all of McAlisterville; siblings, Helen Bryner, Betty Lou Zarkovich and her husband John, all of McAlisterville, Mary Ann Henry, of Doylesburg, Pauline Eaton and her husband Russell, of Newark, DE; grandchildren, Amy Elicerio, Alan Naylor and his wife Rachel; great grandchildren, Ashley Elicerio, Briana Elicerio, Alexander Elicerio, Blair Naylor and Eliza Naylor.
Three sisters, Ruth Neff, Arlene Kint, Kay Naylor and a brother, in infancy, Eugene Naylor, preceded him in death.
Mr. Naylor attended Fayette High School, McAlisterville and was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church, where at one time he had served as the church custodian.
In earlier life, he was employed by Apgar’s Greenhouse, McAlisterville, after which he worked at the Hawstone Brickyard and later retired from Lewistown Specialty Yarns, after more than forty years of service. During retirement he worked as a security guard for Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc., Mifflintown.
George loved working on and keeping his cars spotless and in good working order. He also enjoyed hunting; however, his greatest joy came from the time that he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday from the McAlisterville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Baumgardner officiating. Interment will be private and in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville
