Constance D. “Connie” Saylor, 83, of Mifflin, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at her home.
Born on September 8, 1933 in Milford Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Ruth M. (Dumm) Dolin. On September 20, 1951, she married her surviving husband, Richard C. “Dick” Saylor, with whom she was blessed to share more than 65 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Lou Ann Saylor and her husband, Richard Pilsits, of Enola, siblings, Louise Burd and her husband Richard, of Academia, Lee A. Dolin and his wife Candy, of Seagrove, N.C., a sister-in-law, Barbara C. Dolin, of Mifflintown and she leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Chris Brackbill and his wife Stacy, Lauren Swett and her husband Blake, Evan Saylor and his wife Suzanne, and Jamie Pilsits; as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Sydney Williamson and Spencer Swett.
A son, Stephen R. Saylor and a brother, Rosel E. Dolin preceded her in death.
Mrs. Saylor was a 1951 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, a member the Aldersgate United Methodist Church until 2006 and is currently a member of the East Salem United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mifflin Chapter 260.
She retired in 1981 from the A& P Grocery Store and she will always be remembered for owning and operating Saylor’s Antique and Crafts from 1982 until 2005.
Connie enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, knitting, reading, visiting local nursing homes and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie loved being around other people and would lend help whenever needed, even enjoyed exercising at Curves. No one ever left her home empty-handed or with an empty stomach.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 from the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Joseph Yorks officiating. Interment will be private and held in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
