Obituary for Michael A. "Mick" Harpster

Michael A. “Mick” Harpster, 71, of Mifflin, passed away at 8:40 am on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on May 29, 1945 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Max L. and Eva C. (Goss) Harpster. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Treaster.
Mick is survived by his wife; Kim (Cavanaugh) Harpster, whom he married on October 10, 1998. Sons, Doug Harpster of Burnham, Adam Harpster and wife, Cher of Yeagertown, Cameron Harpster of Mifflin, Cody Cavanaugh and companion, Jenna of Port Royal. He is also survived by his sister, Dawn Wray and companion, Bob Bear of Lewistown. Mick’s grandchildren are, Tate and Jonas Harpster of Yeagertown, Stevie Tsambiras and husband, Dan of Shippensburg, Tyler and Travis Treaster of Milroy, Aleesha Mendy and husband, Carlos of Lewisburg and Adalyla Cavanaugh of Port Royal and five great grandchildren.
Mick retired from Standard Steel in 2013, where he worked as a shop clerk in both the Melt Shop and the Closed Die Forge Shop having forty seven years of service.
He graduated from Chief Logan High School in 1963 and was a member of the Park View Church of the Brethren.
Mick was an avid hunter and fisherman, well known for his fly fishing skills. He enjoyed both watching and listening to high school wrestling and coached wrestling at the Burnham YMCA in his earlier years. He also enjoyed shopping in Big Valley and visiting with his Amish friends. He loved going to his camp in the mountains of Huntingdon County and spending time there with family and friends.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
