Obituary for Joshua J. "Josh" DeLancey

Joshua J. "Josh" DeLancey
Joshua J. “Josh” DeLancey, 37, of McAlisterville passed away at 9:44 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 14, 1979 in Derry Twp., Mifflin County he was the son of Glennis J. and Darlene A. (Niman) DeLancey, of Oakland Mills. On September 25, 2010 he married his surviving wife, Jessica E. (King) DeLancey, with whom he was blessed to share more than 6 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Sophia G. DeLancey and Mason J. DeLancey, both at home; father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Pamela King, of Mifflintown and a brother-in-law Jason E. King and his wife Marel, of Linglestown.
Mr. DeLancey was a 1997 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, and a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, where he served on the Sonbeam Early Learning Center board. Growing up he was an active member at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown and his Masonic memberships included, the Union Lodge #324, F&AM, Mifflintown and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forrest No. 88.
Currently he was employed as the General Manager of Aumiller and Associates, Inc., Milroy and worked alongside of his good friend Ray Long at Longs Auctioneering as an Auctioneer. Previously he was the sales manager for Leidy Chevrolet and Oldsmobile, Mifflintown.
Josh loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting with his cabin buddies at “The Hilton”, fishing and when his health permitted, playing golf. His true passion was cars, especially his Corvettes; however, being a people person his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with friends and family. He cherished the time he spent cooking Sunday afternoon meals for his entire family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville with Rev. Erin Bovendam officiating. Interment will follow in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
For those that wish, memorial donations in Josh’s memory may be made to the DeLancey Children College Fund, c/o First National Bank of Mifflintown, P.O. Box 96, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or taken directly to any of its branches.
