Ruby R. “Mamaw Ruby” Horning, 96, of McAlisterville, went to be with the Lord at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on May 24, 1920, in Delaware Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Ralph G. and Laura E. (Fry) Haubert. On April 25, 1942 she married her late husband Ralph I. Horning, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 40 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on April 6, 1982.
She is survived by her son, Larry R. Horning and his wife Cindy, her granddaughter, favorite and best friend, Christy (Horning) Kerstetter and her husband Andy; great grandsons, Jordan Kerstetter and his fiancé Meghan Fowler, Evan Kerstetter and Caden Kerstetter, all of McAlisterville.
Three brothers, John Haubert, Marlin Haubert, and Warren Haubert; three sisters, Artie Cramer, Edna Singer and Grace Gilpin, preceded her in death, making her the last of her generation.
Ruby had been attending the Trinity Lutheran Church, McAlisterville and was a member of the Whiteland United Methodist Church. She had also been a member of the Fayette Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the McAlisterville Senior Center.
For 50 years, Ruby was employed as a seamstress for Lyons Fashions, McAlisterville.
She loved to travel, cook, sew, work with beads, play bingo and dominos; however her greatest joy came from the time that she spent with her family,
