Gladys L. Harlan, 86, of Honey Grove, passed away at 7:58 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on September 10, 1930, in Lack Twp., Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Maurice G. and Flora (Whitesel) Campbell. Her husband, the late William A. Harlan, preceded her in death on May 17, 2003.
Surviving are her children, Leta M. Fry and her husband Gary, of Duncannon, James “Woody” Harlan, of East Waterford, Roger L. Harlan and his wife Emma, of Port Royal, William E. “Mort” Harlan, of Mifflin; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A son, Dennis A. “Butch” Harlan and 2 sisters, Maxine Lawson and Leota Briggs preceded her in death, making her the last of her generation.
In earlier life, Gladys was employed as a seamstress for Juniata Garment, Mifflin for more than 30 years after which she was employed by Lyons Fashions, Mifflintown for 13 years.
Gladys loved to go out to eat with her cousins, sewing for friends and neighbors, and during her retirement, she enjoyed making homemade meals for her family. She also loved attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Pastor Caleb Burd officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Friday at the funeral home.
