Charles E. “Skip” Hockenberry, 79, of Beaver Springs and formerly of East Waterford passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at home.
Born on June 11, 1938, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Beatrice W. (Neiman) Hockenberry.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Linda M. Lauver and her husband David, of Mifflin, Barbara K. Lamey and her husband Mark, of Beaver Springs; Skip’s “hon”, Ellie Hockenberry; siblings, L. Susan Harpster, of East Waterford, John G. Hockenberry, of Port Royal; grandchildren, Megan K. Forney and her husband Frank, Eric E. Johnson, Dwight T. Frymyer, Kayla Lamey, Alice Osborne and her husband Barry, also his great-grandchildren, Gage Lamey, Nakia Lamey and two more great-grandchildren are expected this year.
A stillborn infant son, a stillborn infant grandson Michael W. Burdge, 3 brothers, Ronald Hockenberry, James H. Hockenberry and Michael B. Hockenberry, preceded him in death.
He retired after 32 years of service with CA White Lumber Co., East Waterford.
Charles was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove.
Skip loved fishing, playing ball and going to sales.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the Pastor Jim Matthews officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery.
There will be no viewing; however, the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
