Paul L. “Pete” Peterson Jr., 61, of Mifflintown passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at home.
Born on August 18, 1956, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of Helen D. (Reynolds) Peterson, of McAlisterville and the late Paul L. Peterson Sr. On August 13, 2004, he married his surviving wife, Linda A. (O’Neil) Peterson, with whom he was blessed to share more than 13 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, Billie Jo Webb and her husband Larry, of Middleburg, Earnest P. Peterson, of Mifflintown, Brett Myers and his wife Cressie, of Mifflintown, Jennifer Evans and her husband James, of Port Royal, Michelle L. Long and her husband Tom, of Mifflintown; siblings, Rodney Peterson and his fiancé Virginia Haas, of Dillsburg, Verna Estep and her husband Harley, of Mechanicsburg, Jeffrey Peterson, of McAlisterville, Christopher Peterson and his fiancé Kelli Haupt, of Millmont , and 7 grandchildren also, a great-grandson.
A grandchild preceded him in death.
Mr. Peterson was a 1974 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army.
He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 232, Dry Run and a life member and president of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post No. 5863, Mifflintown.
For 25 years, he was employed as a truck driver for Keen Transport.
“Pete” loved hunting, fishing and dirt track racing.
There will be no viewing; however, a memorial service will be held at 7:00. p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. William P. Luckadoo officiating. At the conclusion of the memorial service the Juniata County Veterans Council will accord full military burial honors at the funeral home.
All other services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
