HONEY GROVE, Richard J. “Dick” Junk, 64, of Honey Grove died at 4:45 a.m., on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home.
Born on June 26, 1950 in Derry Twp. Mifflin County, he was a son of the late James M. and Beatrice I. (Jacobs) Junk. On June 1, 1974, he married his surviving wife, Karen C. (Himes) Junk, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Traci Fowler and husband Shawn, Michael Junk and wife Buffie, all of Honey Grove. Also surviving are a brother, Donald J. Junk and his wife; Linda and a sister; Gayle A. Foltz and husband; Robert, all of Carlisle. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Rachael Fowler, Carl Fowler, Luke Fowler, Adalynn Junk.
Mr. Junk was a member of the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove. and a former member of the Central PA Logger and Lumberman’s Association. Richard also served on the Advisory Board of the Port Royal branch of the Juniata Valley Bank and in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
He was a 1968 graduate of Tuscarora Valley High School, Port Royal and later, owned and operated R.J. Junk Lumber, East Waterford.
Richard’s hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoysville Cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the church.
