Obituary for Pearl A. Smith

MIFFLIN, Pearl A. Smith, 89, of Mifflin died at 9:15 a.m., on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Bridges at Brookline, Mifflintown.
Born on November 12, 1924 in Nook, Juniata County she was a daughter of the late Russell W. and Mary E. (Hopple) Whitesel. On March 27, 1943, she married her late husband, Carl A. Smith, with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 8, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, C. Darlene Henry of Honey Grove, Barbara P. Dunlap and her husband James, of Mifflin, a son, Glenn A. Smith and his wife Patty, of Lewistown and she leaves behind three grandsons, Russell Henry and his wife; Kelly, Charles Henry and his companion, Elaine Martin, Riley Dunlap also three great-grandchildren, Caitlynn Henry, Nathan Henry and Cody Henry.
A son, Russell Brooks Smith preceded her in death in March of 1962 and she was the last of her generation having been preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the New Life Church of God, Lewistown and she was a homemaker.
Pearl loved raising and taking care of her violets and in her younger years she was always in her garden.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 from the South Juniata Baptist Church, 3647 Smokey Hollow Road, Honey Grove with the Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the church.
