Obituary for Maxine V. Yorks

Maxine V. Yorks, 91, of Lewistown and formerly of Norristown, died at 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on November 18, 1923 in Garrett County, Maryland she was a daughter of the late Walter E. and Ruth L. (McNemar) Amtower. On November 17, 1945, she married her late husband, Jay A. Yorks, with whom she was blessed to share nearly 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 12, 1995.
Surviving are her siblings, Walter Amtower and his wife Sandra, of McVeytown, Leona Osborne and her husband Larry, of Lewistown, Audrey Van Scyoc, of McAlisterville.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, John Amtower, Maxwell Amtower, Wanda Gutshall, Doris Ruble, and Janice Amtower, in infancy.
She was a very active member of the Haws Avenue United Methodist Church, Norristown and had been attending the Parkview Church of the Brethren, Lewistown. She was also a member of the Radiant Chapter #96 Order of the Eastern Star, Norristown.
For 47 years, Mrs. Yorks was employed in the housekeeping department of the Norristown State Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with Pastor Ronald Stacey officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday, at the funeral home.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations in Mrs. Yorks’ memory may be made to the Parkview Church of the Brethren, 990 Parcheytown Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
