Obituary for Clair Leon Yohn


Clair Leon Yohn, 84, of Waterloo, died after a long struggle with cancer at 8:11 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2015, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.
Born on March 14, 1931, in Juniata County he was a son of the late William and Mildred (Burdge) Yohn. On May 28, 1956 he married his surviving wife, Louise L. (Clayton) Yohn, with whom he was blessed to share more than 59 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Douglas Clair Yohn and his wife Leaf, Jeffrey Leon Yohn, all of Waterloo; sister, Helena Neibert, of Waynesboro; grandsons, Kyle Ross Coder, Dylan Douglas Yohn, Kalib Souders Yohn; step grandchildren, Branden Scott Fassnacht, Amanda Mae Sheeler; step great grandchildren, Lillian Grace Sheeler and Brodee Elliot Sheeler.
Preceding him in death were four siblings, Jay Yohn, Adrian Yohn, Gertrude Boone and Shirley Longacre.
He was a member of the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Tuscarora Valley Heritage Days, The Blairs Mills Lions Club, the Lack Twp. E.M.S. and the East Waterford Fire Dept.
Mr. Yohn proudly served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 29, 1952 until August 27, 1954 during the Korean War.
Clair served as a Lack Twp. Supervisor and along with his wife, owned and operated Yohn’s Waterloo General Store. Clair also retired from the PA Dept. of Transportation.
Being an avid outdoorsman, Clair had a passion for hunting and fishing. He also loved to spend time with his family and his grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 from the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Waterloo with Rev. Karen Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Cemetery.
Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday, January 4, 2016 at the church.
The family will provide all funeral flowers and kindly ask that memorial donations be made to the Upper Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 677 Brick Church Road, East Waterford, PA 17021 or the Lack Township E.M.S., 9320 Route 75 South, East Waterford, PA 17021 or to the East Waterford Fire Dept., 9607 Rt. 75 South, East Waterford, PA 17021.
