MIFFLIN, Nora L. “Dolly” Yocum, 80, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC 67, Mifflin and formerly of East Waterford, died at 6:40 p.m., Monday, February 23, 2009, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on May 4, 1928, in Toboyne Twp., Perry County, a daughter of the late Roy E. and Mary E. (Hurrell) Beckenbaugh. Her husband, Frederick S. Yocum, preceded her in death on May 6, 1985.
Surviving are her siblings, Doris M. Miller and her companion Frank Kazmierczak, of Millsboro, DE, Maxine L. Woodward and her husband James, of East Waterford, Charles Swartwood, Jr. and his wife Pat, of Mifflintown, Franklin D. Swartwood and his wife Norma, of McAlisterville, Mary Grace Fry and her husband Jess, of Port Royal, Carl Edward Swartwood and his wife Vicki, of Honey Grove, and 23 nieces and nephews.
One nephew, John Michael Miller, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Yocum was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford, and a past member of the East Waterford Fire Company and Ambulance Division.
Nora was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling when her health permitted.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford.
Viewing will be from 7 - 9 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Funeral Home.
