Obituary for James R. "Jim" Milliken

James R. “Jim” Milliken, 57, of Honey Grove, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home.
Born on February 23, 1959 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Mark C. and M. Alfretta (Gamble) Milliken.
Surviving are his children, Byron J. Milliken and his wife Tabitha, of Beavertown, Brandon O. Milliken, Bronda M. Milliken, both of Mifflin; his companion, Nina Dunn, of Honey Grove; siblings, Verna Williams and her husband Richard, of East Waterford, Clair Milliken and his wife Bonnie, Elliottsburg, Dennis Milliken, of East Waterford; and two grandchildren, Bethany Milliken and Daphne Greth.
One son, Brenton L. Milliken and an infant brother preceded him in death.
He was a 1977 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and a member of the River Church, Mifflintown. He also served as an EMT for the Lack Tuscarora EMS, Fayette EMS, CJEMS, as well as a member the Beale Township Fire Dept. and the East Waterford Fire Dept. He was active in the charity the Wings of Kindness.
Previously, Mr. Milliken was employed for 30 years as a carpenter at Tedd Wood, Inc., East Salem.
Jim loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also collected Native American heritage items, but his greatest joy was the time that he spent with his family, especially his granddaughters. He will always be remembered as someone who was always willing to lend a hand.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Pastor Bob Landis officiating. Interment will follow in the McCulluch’s Mills Cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the funeral home.
