Obituary for Larry B. Yetter
Larry Banks Yetter, 78, of Mifflintown, passed away at 7:45 PM, Friday, October 9, 2020 at home.
Born on September 22, 1942 in Lewistown, Mifflin County, he is a son of the late Robert B. and O. Gustava (Dunn) Yetter.
On August 28, 1965, he married his surviving wife, Louise R. (Reynolds) Yetter with whom he was blessed to share more than 55 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Teresa A. Murphy of Port Royal; three brothers, Marvin J. Yetter and his wife Marilyn of Prescott, AZ, Terry L. Yetter of Mifflintown, Randall C. Yetter and his wife Linda of Lewistown; and two beloved grandchildren, Emily L. Murphy and her fiancé Brandyn Adamson and J. Everett Murphy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in law, Robbie J. Murphy on April 6, 2015.
His education included being a 1962 graduate of Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown and he was a 1964 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College with an Associate Degree in Electronics.
In earlier life, he was employed at Boeing Aircraft of Philadelphia, after which he came home and worked for his father at the family business, which was known as Yetter’s Suburban Gas, later he became the owner and operator of the gas company, before he retired with 25 years of service with the Maintenance Department as an Electrician at Empire Kosher Poultry, Inc. Mifflintown.
Through his community involvement he had served several terms as the Mayor of Mifflin and he was a past President of the Port Royal Lions Club.
Larry will long be remembered for his love of woodworking, worling in his yard and tinkering in his garage.
As per his request, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Yetter’s memory can be made to the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD 20852 or to Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
