Obituary for Paul D. Goss
Paul D. Goss, 92, of Mifflintown, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born on August 29, 1928 in McAlisterville, Juniata County, he is a son of the late Cameron and Mary (Kauffman) Goss.
On June 10, 1949, he married his late wife, Arlyne Z. (Zink) Goss with whom he was blessed to share over 45 years of marriage before her passing on December 3, 1994.
He is survived by: two sons, Larry P. Goss and Michael S. Goss and his wife Sheree, all of Mifflintown; three grandchildren, Matt P. Goss and his wife Jeanne of Bel Air, MD, Abby S. Perdew and her husband Craig of Shippensburg, and Madalyn K. Goss of Alexandria, VA; six great grandchildren, Evan Goss, Anna Jean Goss, Olivia Perdew, Jonathan Perdew, Alaina Perdew, and Jackson Perdew; one sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Hammell of Harrisburg; and one half brother, Ed Goss of Columbia.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Karen Goss and two brothers, Scott Goss and Cameron Goss Jr.
Paul began his education from a one room schoolhouse in Juniata County. He then moved to Harrisburg and attended Edison Jr. High School where he had to fight for his lunch money for the rest of the school year. Finally, he attended John Harris Senior High School in Harrisburg where he was a 1946 graduate.
Mr. Goss honorably served our country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania where he was a MP stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
He was employed and retired as a Forklift Operator with Ralston Purina in Mechanicsburg.
His memberships include the Messiah Lutheran Church, VFW Post #5863, the American Legion Post # 298, all of Mifflintown, and the Millerstown Moose Lodge # 925.
He loved baseball, especially the Baltimore Orioles; football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions; was an avid walker; and enjoyed spending time and attending sporting and school events for his children and grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 30, 2021 at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 3 S. Third St., Mifflintown with Vicar Samuel J. Leister officiating. Interment will follow at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veteran’s Council.
Family will receive friends at the Messiah Lutheran Church following the interment services.
