Obituary for Mary Jane "Janie" Nipple

Mary Jane “Janie” Nipple, 83, of Reedsville and formerly of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lewistown.

Born on April 24, 1938, in Thompsontown, Juniata County, she is a daughter of the late Clyde S. Snyder and Mary Jane (Reisinger) Shirk. On November 8, 1955, at the Whiteland Evangelical United Brethren Church in Maze, she married her late husband, the Rev. Ronald Sharon Nipple, with whom she was blessed to share over 64 years of marriage before his passing on July 21, 2020.

She is survived by: her five daughters, Sherry Bailor of Millerstown, Sydnee Jones and her husband Jeff of Carlisle, Sharlene Jury and her husband Ronald of McAlisterville, Susan Myers and her husband William of Burnham, and Sally Annis and her husband Frank of Lewistown; six grandchildren, William Myers, Justin Myers, Derek Baker, Gunnar Jones, Amanda Potter, Andrea Krepps, five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jeannie of Florida, Jessie (Joan) of Colorado, and Jackie of Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son in law, Ed Bailor and her siblings, Jimmy and Anne.

Mary Jane attended schools in Maze, PA, Baltimore, MD, Cordova, MD, and Easton, MD. In later life, she attended and graduated Believers Bible School after having a stroke. “Miracle Mary” was something that her nurses had called her because despite having a stroke and other fatal health issues, she fought through it all.

She was a proud minister’s wife and homemaker who pioneered Light Ministries Church alongside her husband.

Her hobbies included baking, canning, and pie baking which she will long be remembered for. While living on the farm in Seven Stars, she was also well known for her hand churned homemade butter.

Graveside Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, September 13, 2021, at the Maze Cemetery with the Rev. David Patterson officiating.

A public viewing will be held from 10 – 11 AM on Monday, September 13th at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
