Obituary for John G. Noss
John G. Noss, 84, of Honey Grove, passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022 at his residence.
Born on April 12, 1938 in Spruce Hill Twp., Juniata County, he is the son of the late Elmer A. and Betty G. (Gilliford) Noss.
On June 22, 1957, he married his late wife, Ruth Ann (Kilmer) Noss with whom he was blessed to share more than 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on October 28, 2021.
Surviving are two daughters, Deborah S. Sweger and her husband Tony of East Waterford and Kathleen E. Ford and her husband Brian of Honey Grove; two grandchildren, Caitlin M. Imes and her husband David and Alexander D. Noss, and several generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Richard W. “Rich” Noss on May 6, 2012 and a step-granddaughter, Jessica Ford on January 12, 2017.
Mr. Noss was a 1955 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown and he was a lifelong self-employed farmer who, in earlier life, was a heavy equipment operator.
His memberships included the Union Lodge #324 F&AM, Tall Cedars Juniata Valley Forest #88, and he had served several terms as a member of the Juniata County School Board.
John loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing; however, his greatest joy was work and being a good provider and taking care of his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with the Rev. Graham C. Fowler officiating. Interment will take place at the McCoysville Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022 until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
