Obituary for Kenneth E. Hepner

Kenneth Earl Hepner, 89, of Mifflintown, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2022 at his home.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Ruth Kramer Hepner, a daughter Trudy Ann Hepner, and a daughter Crystal Ann Hepner Shaffer. He was also the last living member of his family of origin in the home Samuel G and Sally Hepner; and his siblings Gladys Hepner, Esther Hepner Varner, Samuel C. Hepner, Marlin E. Hepner, Clarence E. Hepner, Ruth Hepner Meiser, Mary Hepner Wert, Ferne O. Hepner, Richard L. Hepner, Donald, Jim Hepner.

He is survived by his son, Pastor Ken Hepner and his wife Raina, Bonnie Hepner Pelak and her husband Drew, and son-in-law Lee Shaffer; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ken worked hard his entire lifetime to make a living for his family. He began on the sawmill at age 15, he worked at Ehrenzeller’s Poultry farm, worked construction for Hempt Construction, sold furniture for H W Grant Co. and Plaza House Furniture. He also founded and operated Fairview Furniture Store in McAlisterville for more than 35 years. He was still delivering furniture for people at age 79!

He was a member of Cedar Grove BIC Church we he and his wife served as Sunday School teachers of children, as a Deacon, and as a Church Board member.

He was cherished by his family who are so thankful he is now with his departed family members in heaven.

Special thanks to caregivers who served us so sacrificially and loved on our dad, so he could go to heaven from our home. Marti Anderson, Betsy Morgan, and the entire team at Hospice 365. They were wonderful with our family.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2022 from the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown. Interment will be private.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of the memorial services at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 15th at the Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
