Obituary for Irvin E. "Ed" Pennabaker

Irvin E. “Ed” Pennabaker, 96, of East Waterford, passed away at 11:55 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on June 6, 1927, he was the son of the late David and Susan (Naylor) Pennabaker. On April 4, 1948, he married his late wife Alma M. (Kingsboro) Pennabaker, with whom he was blessed to share more than 69 years of marriage before her passing on December 4, 2017.
He is survived by, a son, Fred Pennabaker and his wife Mindy, of East Waterford, a daughter-in-law Pam Pennabaker, of Fayetteville, NC; one sister-in-law Lynn Wiser, one brother-in-law, Jim and Carol Kingsboro of Florida; grandchildren, Steve Gold and wife, Linda of Middlesex, North Carolina, Jodi Beth Pennabaker Bates and husband Steven of Fayettville, North Carolina, Stacey Pennabaker and fiancée Chuck Weiand of Honey Grove, Kiana Pennabaker and fiancée Derek Ernest of Honey Grove, 8 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Irvin E. “Butch” Pennabaker, Jr. and his brothers and sisters.
Ed was employed and retired as a Diesel Mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot, Mechanicsburg, with over 30 years of service.
Mr. Pennabaker honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
His memberships include the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford where he served as a past treasurer; the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM, Mifflintown; and the East Waterford Fire Company No. 7; and Lack-Tuscarora EMS.
He enjoyed camping, riding his moped across Juniata County, sitting on his front porch doing crossword puzzles, and loved taking joy rides with his late wife.
He will be remembered for his help in mowing at the East Waterford Post Office and the East Waterford Cemetery and assisting the former Henry Funeral Home of Honey Grove. Ed will also be remembered as an all-around good Christian man and a great father.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, from the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford with the Rev. Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the East Waterford Cemetery where full military burial rites will be honored by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
A viewing will be held on Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., where Masonic Funeral Rites will be accorded.
