McALISTERVILLE, Margie M. Leitzel, 87, of McAlisterville, died at 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born on January 1, 1927, in Wills Point, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Hester and Claudia (Hollis) McNorton. On January 5, 1946 she married her late husband, James S. Leitzel, Jr., with whom she spent 28 years, before he preceded her in death on February 1, 1974.
Surviving are her children, Thomas Leitzel and his wife Linda, of McAlisterville, Deborah Regis, of Aurora, IL, Richard Leitzel and his wife Barb, of Harrisburg, Greg Leitzel and his wife Patty, Cypress, TX, five grandchildren, Bradley Dietz, Tony Regis, Nicole Regis, and Ashley Reichenbach, as well as ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind various nieces and nephews.
One sister, Winnie Gee Shadid and a nephew preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Sherman High School, Sherman, TX and her memberships included, the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church, The Rebekah Lodge, the Women’s Club, all of McAlisterville, and at one time she was the Cub Scout Den Mother for Pack 65, McAlisterville.
Mrs. Leitzel, along with her daughter in law, Linda owned and operated The Towne Shoppe, Mifflintown.
Margie was a home maker who enjoyed playing golf but, her favorite pastime was working in her flower beds.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from the Good News Lutheran Brethren Church with Pastor Michael Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, McAliserville.
Viewing will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service, Saturday at the church.
