MIFFLINTOWN, Harold W. “Pete” Peterson, 81, of Brookline Village, Mifflintown and formerly of Nook died at 7:33 a.m., on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Brookline.
Born on January 18, 1933 in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ira W. and Dorothy M. (Bartmess) Peterson. On May 26, 1951, he married his late wife, Patricia A. (Nipple) Peterson, with whom he spent more than 51 years of marriage, before she preceded him in death on June 2, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Chris Peterson and his wife Deb, of East Lansing, MI, Jerry Peterson, of Detroit, MI, siblings, Ray Peterson and his wife Anna Ruth, Helen Campbell and her husband Robert, all of Mifflintown, Donald Peterson and his wife Rochelle, of Honey Grove, and he leaves behind six grandchildren, Christopher Peterson, Jr., John Peterson, Abigail Mulholland, Justin Peterson, Joel Peterson, and Jenna Peterson also nine great-grandchildren.
A brother, Robert Peterson and a sister, Myra Hower preceded him in death.
Mr. Peterson was a 1951 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nook, where he had held various positions throughout the church. Also he was a member of the Beale Township Fire Co. and had formerly served on the Board of the Eastern Milk Producers Local.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer and later was employed by Hill Top Oil Co., Mifflintown until his retirement.
Pete had a love of the outdoors being an avid hunter. He also enjoyed traveling having traveled to all fifty states and he was a passionate Philadelphia Phillie’s fan.
A Funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nook with the Rev. Charles Hershberger officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Nook.
Viewing will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown. There will be no viewing at the church on Tuesday.
