Barbara Long Maxton, 67, of Mifflintown passed away at 8:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on October 6, 1947, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she is a daughter of Florence “Flo” N. (Nipple) Long, of Port Royal, and the late Albert J. “Jack” Long. On April 2, 1966, she married her husband, Jesse W. Maxton, with whom she shared nearly 49 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by 2 daughters, Jill Maxton Baughman, of Carlisle, Patricia Ann Siegfried and her husband, Phil, of Elloittsburg, a sister, Carol L. Adams and her husband, Jim, of Mifflintown, 4 grandchildren, Jake Baughman, Mason Baughman and his wife Casey, Eric Siegfried, Lauren Siegfried, and a great-grandson, Roland Baughman.
Mrs. Maxton was a 1965 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, a member of the United Church of Christ, Ickesburg, the AARP, and had been attending the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, Academia.
In earlier life she was employed by Amp, Inc., Harrisburg, after which she started her family and she stayed home to raise her 2 daughters. She then was employed by Fred Vlasek Real Estate, Camp Hill and her last place of employment was Century 21 Pace and Pace, New Bloomfield.
Barbara worked diligently to leave her family with her journals of inspirational thoughts.
There will be no viewing; however a time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, 54 Church Road, Mifflin (Academia) with the Rev. John C. Park officiating. Interment will be private and held in the Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
