Clair W. Goshorn, 87, of Mifflin died at 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at his residence.
Born on September 14, 1927 in Tell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Raymond and Lena (Pyles) Goshorn. On June 26, 1954 he married his surviving wife of more than 60 years, Eleanor (Crull) Goshorn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Wendell C. Goshorn, of McConnellsburg, 2 sisters, Pauline Clouser, of Chambersburg, Dorothy Burdge and her husband Hays, of East Waterford, 2 grandaughters, Tonya Goshorn, Amanda Black, and 7 great-grandchildren, Eleanor Goshorn, Hailey Lane, Kameron Lane, Liberty Lane, Ariel Black, Lilly Maden, and Tyson Maden.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Brooks Goshorn and William Goshorn.
Mr. Goshorn is a member of the Arch Rock United Methodist Church and at one time was a member of the Richvale United Methodist Church where he served on the pastor parish committee and as treasurer of the building fund for many years. He also belonged to the Mifflintown Senior Citizens Center and at one time served as a school board director in Juniata County as well as serving 2 terms as a supervisor for Lack Township.
In 1992 he retired from Interforest, Shade Gap but had spent most of his working life farming.
Clair was the happiest when he spent time in the outdoors. He also enjoyed going to sales and auctions, however; he always cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown with Pastor Gerald Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Book Cemetery, Shade Valley.
Viewing will be 12 noon until the time of service, Saturday at the funeral home.
