Thelma M. Hockenberry, 88, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, and formerly of Concord went to be with her Lord and Savior at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the village.
Born on September 1, 1926, in Saville Township, Perry County she was the daughter of the late John and Alma Martha Arabella (Stydinger) Beckenbaugh. Her husband, Clarence “Clyde” Hockenberry preceded her in death on October 29, 1990.
Surviving are her children, Marvin M. Hockenberry, of McCoysville, Sharon Runk, of Virginia, siblings, William Hockenberry, of Spruce Hill, Jack Hockenberry, of Honey Grove, Buddy Hockenberry, of East Waterford, Earl Beckenbaugh, of Fort Loudon, Glenn Beckenbaugh, of McConnellsburg, Peggy Fahnestock, of Chambersburg, Joyce Hockenberry, of Mifflintown, 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Edward Hockenberry, Robert Eby, two sisters, Phyllis Drake, Alma Beverly Naugle, and three brothers, Clair Hockenberry, Donald Hockenberry, and Jesse Hockenberry all preceded her in death.
Mrs. Hockenberry was a member of the Village Lighthouse Church, Blairs Mills and she had been employed as a seamstress at Stanley, Chambersburg.
Thelma enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and quilting and she will long be remembered for her artistry of making patch work quilts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 3, 2015 from the Village Lighthouse Chapel, 16738 Shade Valley Road, Blairs Mills, with Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Union Cemetery, Concord.
Viewing will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at the Village Lighthouse Chapel, Blairs Mills.
